Kate Broun is the Head of Screening, Early Detection, and Immunisation at Cancer Council Victoria. She has more than 25-years’ experience working in cancer screening and prevention, leading national and state-wide efforts to improve cancer outcomes for whole of population and priority audiences. She previously held key roles in state and national health policy and cancer screening program delivery. She was manager of PapScreen Victoria from 2002-2010, and in 2019 led delivery of Australia’s first national bowel screening communications campaign. In 2022 and 2023, she was appointed to the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program communications campaign advisory committee as subject matter expert. Through her career she has published on various aspects of screening in high-impact journals, most recently in the Health Promotion Journal of Australia (2023), the British Medical Journal (2023), and The Australian Journal of Rural Health (2023).
